POSITION: MACHINE OPERATOR

LOCATION: Kinston, NC

PAY TYPE: Hourly Wage overtime

PAY RATE: $16 - $17 per hour

JOB PURPOSE:

Under direction perform duties to inspect, sort, and configure block into prescribed patterns to be stacked into cubes by the cubing machine. Operating hours Monday through Friday. Morning shift. Flexibility for weekend shifts as needed.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

1.  Sort concrete products on conveyor into prescribed patterns for size and type and feed configured products into cubing machine.

2. Inspect products for conformity to prescribed quality standards such as texture, shape and corners. Remove poor quality products and hand stack into cubes for removal from cubing area.

3. Monitor the operation of cuber, block conveyor, cube conveyor, depalleter, A.B.C conveyor and other nearby equipment to detect and report malfunctions.

4. Maintain work area in an orderly, neat, clean and hazard-free conditions.

5. Assist with maintenance, repair and cleaning of cuber and other production equipment.

6. Set wood pallets onto accumulator tray as required and place pallet block on conveyor to be pushed into cuber.

7. Follow company safety rules.

8. Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM JOB SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

1. Detect when products do not meet quality standards and machinery does not meet operational standards.

2. Perform essential functions and duties at conveyor pace set by block machine.

3. Learn and use correctly, the appropriate sorting and stacking patterns for each product.

4. Operate machinery and make minor adjustments and repairs, such a s removing jams.

5. Understand and follow directions in English as required by safety and performance standards.

6. Cooperate with others.

7. Understand and consistently follow procedures.

MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

1. Lift concrete products and other objects weighing up to 70 pounds each at heights from floor level to four feet high.

2. Withstand continuous standing, twisting, reaching, pushing, pulling and stooping.

3. Provide assistance to others in moving heavier or bulky objects.

4. Withstand repetitive motion of the hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder.

5. Function in workplace environmental conditions including, but not limited to, cold, heat, bright sun, noise, and nuisance dusts.

6. Able to work shifts.

7. Have good hearing for safety reasons.

8. Have good peripheral vision and depth perception.

SPECIFIC SAFETY RULES FOR MACHINE OPERATOR:

1. Carefully follow noise, dust and other environmental safety procedures as required

2. Carefully follow Lockout/Tagout rules when assisting with maintenance and repair.

3. Follow lifting and back safety guidelines while handling concrete products and wooden pallets. Use scissor lifting table provided and keep at proper height.

4. Do not clear jams without stopping machinery or without using a tool.

5. Never use a hand or foot to clear jams while machinery is running.

6. Use proper safety guidelines for repetitive motion tasks.

7. Cuber operator must wear: safety helmet, safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, safety shoes, and personal protective equipment associated with other tasks performed in block manufacturing
