About Us: Eastside Mental Health is a mental health center serving Jefferson, Blount, and St. Clair Counties. With locations in Birmingham, Pell City, and Oneonta, we provide services to over 2,000 clients who are managing a mental health condition. Our professional staff includes therapists, nurse practitioners, and medical doctors who are supported by our administrative team.
Job Title: Medical Office Receptionist
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED equivalent
One year administrative experience in a medical office setting
Basic computer skills including data entry and experience with Microsoft Word
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in human services, psychology, social work, sociology, business management or related field
Two years experience in a medical office setting
Experience using an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system
Duties and Responsibilities:
Manages staff appointment schedules, including scheduling patient appointments, providing patients with appointment reminder notifications, and responding to patients regarding appointments
Communicates effectively over the phone and in person with clients and/or their representatives who are experiencing a mental health diagnosis
Assists patients and nurse with coordinating lab orders
Manages administrative processing of approved requests for client information, including copying and mailing medical records
Performs administrative duties such as typing clinical record documentation and correspondence, word processing, photocopying, charting, and posting data to charts
Performs data entry and retrieval tasks by use of our Electronic Medical Record system to record and maintain client demographic and financial information
Answer and route calls as applicable
Transmit and distribute faxes as needed to staff
Participates in performance improvement or quality assurance activities, staff meetings and in-service trainings
