Prepared Foods Lead
REPORTS TO: Kitchen Supervisor, Assistant Deli Manager, Deli Manager
FLSA STATUS: Non-exempt; Hourly
DEPARTMENT: Deli
Night and weekend availability required
PURPOSE
The Prepared Foods Lead is responsible for participating and maintaining department production & workflow while providing leadership, oversight and training to Deli staff. The Prepared Foods Lead provides excellent customer service, helps to maintain a clean and well stocked department, and is a positive leader for the Deli Department team.
ALL CO-OP STAFF WILL:
- Use all available tools and resources to provide excellent and knowledgeable customer service to all customers, coworkers, and vendors
- Communicate professionally and respectfully with everyone you encounter while at work
- Adhere to all store and department policies and procedures
- Demonstrate regular, predictable good attendance
- Attend huddles and meetings as scheduled
- Commit to contributing to a positive, team-building work environment
PREPARED FOODS LEAD WILL:
- Work with the deli leadership team to develop and implement quality recipes that cater to a variety of diets, including vegan, wheat-free, and dairy-free
- Implement quality control standards for prepared foods items
- Coordinate and participate in the service, production and packing of prepared foods items
- Participate in department inventory
- Maintain a fully stocked and clean department
- Follow co-op safety procedures and MN food safety rules
- Be a point person for production related issues that may occur during shift
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS:
- Passion for food service, cooking, natural foods, and co-ops
- Exceptional customer service skills
- The ability to balance multiple priorities
- Self-motivation; comfortable taking initiative and prioritizing tasks
- The ability to work with limited and no supervision
- Minimum of 2 years food service experience
- Basic computer skills
- Experience leading and/or training others in a work environment
- Take a solution-based approach as issues in supply chain, production and personnel arise
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Frequent reaching, bending, twisting, and rotating
- Prolonged standing and walking
- Ability to lift and move 60 pounds frequently during a shift
- Environmental exposure to extreme temperatures (coolers, ovens, freezer, outdoors, etc.)
- Repetitive use of hands for grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine manipulation
