Position Scope
The Program Manager will be responsible for overseeing the daily camp operations, supervising staff, ensuring student safety and engagement, and creating a fun, inclusive, and enriching environment for the ECN Summer Discovery Program. They will be responsible for coordinating with instructors for academic, recreational activities, field trips, and special events in addition to providing ongoing coaching and performance feedback. The Program Manager will be responsible for collecting and tracking relevant program data, generating reports, and ensuring the program meets organizational goals while maintaining compliance with Michigan Child Care Licensing Rules and youth development best practices.
Position Responsibilities
- Oversee the implementation of the ECN Summer Discovery Program aligned with the program outcomes.
- Manage the program schedules, which include academic and enrichment activities.
- Monitor Program quality to ensure activities are age-appropriate for middle-school participants.
- Coordinate and supervise program staff, including enrichment instructors, academic instructors, and support staff.
- Assist with recruitment, onboarding, and training of program staff, including participation in coaching and training programs.
- Ensure the program maintains appropriate staff-to-student supervision ratios and adheres to safety procedures.
Support in maintaining program compliance with Michigan Childcare Licensing Rules for school-age programs, including; Maintaining program records, attendance documentation, incident reports, etc. Maintain personnel documentation, including training records, certifications, and background clearances.
- Communicate with families regarding program expectations, schedules, and youth progress.
- Represent the organization at program events and community meetings when appropriate.
Minimum qualifications
- Must be at least 19 years of age
- High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree preferred in education, youth development, social work, nonprofit management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working with school-aged youth in educational, enrichment, or youth development programs.
- Minimum 1 year of supervisory experience or program leadership experience.
- Demonstrated experience in youth development, afterschool programming, camps, or community-based programs
- Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a child-related field such as education, social work, youth development, recreation, or human services
- Training documented through MiRegistry or youth development credential programs
- Experience managing grant-funded or city-funded youth programs
- CPR, First Aid, and Bloodborne Pathogens certification
Required Certifications and Clearances
Prior to start or within required time frames:
- Criminal background check clearance
- Child abuse and neglect registry clearance
- CPR and First Aid Certification
- Mandatory Reporter Training
- Compliance with organizational youth safety policies
Pay: $25.00 per hour
