What are the responsibilities and job description for the Social Worker/Counselor - PART TIME position at Eastside Community Action Center?
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Social Worker/Counselor to join our team! This role focuses on providing emotional and administrative support to individuals with substance use disorders, using evidence-based treatment approaches. A strong desire to support personal transformation and recovery is essential.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver individual and group counseling sessions using MDOC-OCC and CCAB approved cognitive change-based curriculum
- Address substance abuse, criminal thinking, and conduct through structured programming
- Conduct initial assessments to determine client needs, risks, and treatment goals
- Provide ongoing case management and maintain accurate, confidential records
- Advocate for appropriate public assistance and recovery resources
- Communicate regularly with clients’ care teams and coordinate treatment planning
- Provide crisis intervention and referrals to appropriate treatment centers as needed
- Ensure compliance with all policies, procedures, and regulatory standards
- Participate in ongoing training to maintain certification and stay current with best practices
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, or related field
- MCBAP certification required - Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC)
- Prior experience working with individuals affected by substance use disorders
- Strong communication and documentation skills
- Ability to build trust and rapport with clients from diverse backgrounds
- Compassionate, nonjudgmental, and committed to client success
