Accounting Specialist

Easton Utilities is currently seeking to fill the position of Accounting Specialist. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong technical aptitude in accounting principles, exceptional attention to detail, and a commitment to accuracy and financial integrity. HIRING RANGE: Annual Salary of $64,402.00 or higher depending upon experience.

JOB OBJECTIVE: To assist the Controller in providing accurate and timely financial information to the management and regulatory bodies of the Easton Utilities Commission. This is a full-time, non-exempt position.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be detail oriented and capable of working independently.
• Prior accounting experience required.
• Personal computer proficiency necessary.
• Advanced Excel ability.
• Familiarity with accounting software packages.
• Familiarity with Sage accounting software preferred.
• A valid driver’s license is required.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

• Associate's Degree in Accounting or Business-related field or equivalent experience required.
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Business-related field or equivalent experience preferred.

MAJOR JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Prepare various monthly, quarterly and annual reports, both financial and non-financial, for review by the Controller.
• Provide financial information for completion of reports.
• Assist with various monthly, quarterly and annual reports, both financial and non-financial, as required.
• Monitor jobs and prepare transactions to close jobs to the appropriate accounts for assigned departments.
• Review work of subordinates, as assigned.
• Prepare work papers for year-end audit, as assigned.
• Prepare monthly transactions on assigned accounts.
• Reconcile assigned accounts regularly.
• Perform periodic reviews of certain items, such as petty cash, inventories, etc., as assigned.
• Ensure information is properly backed up for emergency situations.
• Assist Operational Managers with pricing/costing decisions; including information gathering, vendor invoice review and reporting, as requested.
• Provide other information and assistance, as requested, to accounting and non-accounting co-workers.
• Assist in performing internal audit functions.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Regular, reliable attendance is a requirement of this job.
