What are the responsibilities and job description for the JBHS Athletic Trainer position at Easton, Redding, Region 9?
Position: Athletic Trainer (.50)
Location: Joel Barlow High School
Date Available: Commencing with the 2026-2027 school year.
Salary: In accordance with the Joel Barlow Education Association’s bargaining unit contract.
Responsibilities:
- Develop an overall sports medicine program, including: injury prevention programs, injury evaluations, injury management, injury treatment and rehabilitation, educational programs and counseling for student athletes.
- Provide athletic training services for the athletic department, including attendance at scheduled team practices and home and away competitions as necessary.
- Coordinate and schedule physical examinations and medical referrals for student-athletes to determine their ability to practice and compete.
- Work in conjunction with the strength and conditioning coach to ensure safety in the design and implementation of fitness, nutrition and conditioning programs customized to meet individual student-athlete needs.
- Assist Athletic Administrator in the development of the athletic training budget.
- Schedule and coordinate replacement athletic trainer for coverage of all team practices and athletic competitions on days of absences.
- Evaluate and recommend new techniques and equipment that would enhance the benefit of the athletic training program.
- Recordkeeping and documentation.
- 20-25 hours weekly
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in appropriate area of specialization
- Certified by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Certification (NATABOC)
- State Athletic Training Licensure
