Responsibilities
- Operate manual lathes and mills to fabricate custom parts per blueprints, engineered drawings, sketches and verbal instructions.
- Use precision measuring equipment to accurately measure parts in a shop and field setting.
- Perform field machine repairs such as flange facing and bolt removal per company needs.
- Maintain/repair shop equipment and tooling to ensure good working condition.
- Disassemble and repair mechanical/rotating equipment using reference material and prior experience without specific instructions.
- Determine replacement parts needed for repairs, develop repair recommendations/timelines and ensure fabricated parts meet material specifications.
- Work closely with other work groups such as engineering, fabrication shop, C&CI, area maintenance and operations to ensure quality repairs.
- Use computers daily to enter time, access training modules, view equipment BOMs (bill of material), order parts from stores, enter safety observations/concerns and access procedures, standards, and drawings when needed.
- Field measure and sketch parts as needed such as pump baseplates and accessories attached to rotating equipment.
- Fabricate/prep sheet metal parts and screen filters using various machines such as break press, plate roller, iron worker and shearing machine.
- Use all safety equipment/PPE as designated, including but not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, hard hat, face shield, fire retardant clothing, safety toe work boots/shoes and respirators.
- Have a high degree of ownership of machine work and shop rotating equipment repairs/ rebuilds.
- Be available for overtime or alternate schedules, on-call duties and rotating shift as required.
- Support PMD area maintenance crews when determined necessary from a resource allocation standpoint.
- Ability to communicate effectively with Operations & Maintenance Supervision, Operations Work Execution Coordinator, PMD Planners & Schedulers
- Be highly organized, self-motivated, proactive, creative, and results oriented.
- Be detail oriented and demonstrate the ability to consistently meet deadlines.
- Coordinate eyes, hands, and fingers to handle precise movements.
- Willing to learn addition computer skills, as needed – SAP, ProjectWise and Microsoft Office Suite will be primary software tools that will be used daily.
- Physical requirements include, but are not limited to, performing work in both shop/indoors and field/outdoors (in all weather conditions), standing, walking, climbing stairs and ladders, working at heights, working in cramped or confined spaces as needed, and lifting and moving loads of various weights using any available tools and equipment
Qualifications
Required
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
- Must have a valid state motor vehicle driver’s license
- 5 years of experience in heavy industrial mechanical maintenance or related field.
- Skills Verification (after on-site interview): Candidates selected to move past the on-site interview step will be required to come on-site to perform various hands-on manual machinist tasks.
Preferred
- 5 years of experience operating a manual lathe and milling machine.
