We’re hiring an Environmental Compliance Specialist to join our team and support hazardous and non hazardous waste programs, regulatory compliance, and field inspections. This hands on role will manage waste stream creation and ticketing, coordinate off site shipments and manifests, support RCRA/SPCC inspections and audits, and provide on call accidental discharge guidance.
This position will work approximately 18 hours per week.
This individual will become an expert technical resource for environmental issues at Eastman's Tennessee Operations site (TNO). Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

This individual will become an expert technical resource for environmental issues at Eastman's Tennessee Operations site (TNO). Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Manage environmental permitting, compliance and reporting requirements for TNO
- Provide ongoing regulatory guidance and support for TNO
- Review capital projects to determine the regulatory impacts and permitting needs
- Represent Eastman Chemical in dealings with local, State, and Federal regulatory authorities
- Provide technical support to regional sites as needed
- Participate in compliance audits of Eastman sites and in business assessments of customers, suppliers and vendors
- 3 years of environmental regulatory experience preferred
- Ability to study and comprehend complex regulations and communicate this knowledge to others with different levels of understanding
- Clear, effective written and oral communication. Ability to promote an idea or defend a position while maintaining good working relationships
- Critical thinker and active listener with good judgment and problem-solving skills
- Ability to ensure compliance; tell people no when necessary and collaborate to develop compliant alternatives
- Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and make related appropriate decisions on a day-to-day basis
- Initiative and the ability to work in a team setting
- Good organizational, planning and strategic skills
- Computer experience and capability with standard software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
