We are locally owned and have former TV, newspaper and radio journalists working to bring the best news coverage to our audience every day.
We are expanding our true crime coverage with Courtroom Insider and need a social media producer who will take us to the next level. You will be responsible for managing and curating content for our social media channels, helping us inform, engage, and grow our digital audience.
You’ll work closely with reporters, editors, and video producers to promote news coverage in real time, create original platform-specific content, and develop strategies that reflect our brand and journalistic mission.

Key responsibilities
- Write, edit, and publish compelling content for social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, X, YouTube, and TikTok.
- Monitor breaking news and trending topics to identify opportunities for engagement.
- Create and edit short-form video and visual content optimized for each platform.
- Collaborate with reporters and editors to promote stories and special features.
- Develop and execute social strategies to drive traffic, grow followers, and boost engagement.
- Monitor analytics to assess performance and adjust tactics accordingly.
- Engage with audience members through comments, messages, and live interactions when appropriate.
Job requirements
- At least one year of social media or newsroom experience
- Deep familiarity with social media platforms, audiences, standard processes and analytics
- Strong writing, editing, and headline-writing skills with an eye for what performs well on social media.
- A passion for true crime and court stories.
- Ability to multitask and work well with a team under tight deadlines
- Expertise in Adobe Photoshop, Premiere, Acrobat, InDesign or similar software
- Degree or equivalent experience in journalism, communications or related field
You must be a self-starter and be comfortable working independently. You need to be detail-oriented, organized and resourceful in telling unique stories.
You’ll generally work Monday through Friday, but you may occasionally need to work a weekend or holiday if a jury is deliberating or a special session of court is being held.
This position will be full-time in-office or remote. Salary is $35,000 – $45,000 based on experience.
