Job Description:
A paraeducator supports teachers and students in the classroom by providing instructional
assistance, supervision, and help with daily learning activities. The paraeducator works under the
direction of a certified teacher or school administrator to help ensure students receive a safe,
supportive, and effective learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist the teacher with classroom instruction and student activities
• Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce lessons
• Help prepare instructional materials and classroom resources
• Support students with special needs, behavior plans, or accommodations
• Monitor student progress and provide feedback to the teacher
• Supervise students during class, lunch, recess, field trips, or transitions
• Maintain a safe, organized, and positive classroom environment
• Assist with basic clerical tasks as needed
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Associate’s degree or 48 college credits, or have passed either ParaPro or WorkKeys
• Experience working with children or in an educational setting preferred
• Strong communication, patience, and teamwork skills
• Ability to follow teacher direction and school policies
• Basic reading, writing, and math skills
Physical Requirements
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and assist students as needed
• May need to lift up to 50lbs to help support students and move classroom materials
