Job Summary
The Environmental Services Director is responsible for the efficient management of the Housekeeping, Laundry and Maintenance departments. He / she must maintain excellent interdepartmental skills, relate well with people and adhere to established schedules.
Qualifications
The incumbent will possess:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in a leadership role and with supervising other employees
- Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and procedures in the healthcare / long-term care environment.
- Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems.
- Knowledge of Federal, State and local regulations pertaining to the facility.
- The ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
- The ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
- The ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government personnel and the general public.
- Patience, tact, a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as a willingness to handle difficult situations.
- The ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies and procedures, etc. that are necessary for maintaining the facility in a safe and sanitary manner..
- Willingness to seek out new methods and principals and be willing to incorporate them into existing practices.
Conditions
Subject to frequent interruptions; involved with residents, personnel, visitors, government agency personnel, etc. under all circumstances; subject to hostile and emotionally upset persons; may need to work beyond normal work hours and holidays when necessary; is subject to call back during an emergency; is subject to injury from falls, burns from equipment. Works in a well lit and ventilated nursing facility. Sits, stand and walks constantly throughout the day. Bends, reaches, stretches and carries within normal limits. Must be able to push, pull, move and / or lift a minimum of 50 pounds. Will require fine motor skills and visual and aural acuity. Will communicate verbally and in writing to various people. Deals with many levels of contact with professionals, residents, family members, staff and the general public.
