What are the responsibilities and job description for the Associate Veterinarian - Small Animal position at Eastfield Veterinary?
GP Urgent Care | Flexible Scheduling | No Overnights
Eastfield Veterinary Wellness & Urgent Care | Wilbraham, MA
Love urgent care medicine with a sprinkle of emergency, but not the overnight shifts?
We just might be your kind of hospital.
One minute you're working up a vomiting dog. The next, you're managing a laceration while your team triages an unexpected emergency. It's a little GP, a lot of problem-solving, and just enough unpredictability to keep things interesting.
Oh, and don’t forget the wellness exam and vaccines waiting in Room 1.
No overnights. Flexible shifts. Fun medicine.
A little about Eastfield Veterinary
We're an independently owned veterinary hospital combining general practice, same-day sick visits, and urgent care. Led by a veterinarian with extensive emergency medicine experience, Eastfield Veterinary bridges the gap between traditional GP and the emergency room.
We welcome established clients, new patients, and pets whose regular veterinarians can't accommodate them that day.
Our caseload is varied, our days are rarely predictable, and we like it that way.
The opportunity:
We're looking for a part-time veterinarian who can rotate weekday and weekend shifts with our owner. Scheduling is flexible, and we're open to finding an arrangement that works for both of us.
You'll have the opportunity to practice independently, work through interesting cases, and collaborate with a team of eager minds that values initiative and clinical judgment.
What you can expect:
· Flexible part-time scheduling
· Weekday and rotating weekend shifts
· No overnights or on-call responsibilities
· GP and urgent care caseload with a sprinkle of emergencies
· The usual in-house diagnostics and pharmacy
· An independently owned hospital where your input and clinical decisions matter
Who we're looking for:
You're comfortable when the schedule is full and something unexpected walks through the door.
You can juggle multiple cases, prioritize what needs your attention, and keep moving without sacrificing the quality of your medicine.
You enjoy diagnostics, working through challenging presentations, and seeing cases through when appropriate. You know when to treat, when to stabilize, and when referral is genuinely in the patient's best interest.
You communicate clearly, respect your technicians, and understand that a well-functioning team makes everyone’s job easier.
We're looking for someone who knows how to think, act, and adapt.
Qualifications
· DVM/VMD with active Massachusetts veterinary licensure
· Previous high-volume GP, urgent care, or emergency medicine experience strongly preferred
· Comfortable independently managing sick and urgent patients
· Comfortably independently stabilizing emergencies for transfer to a referral hospital
· Strong diagnostic reasoning and clinical decision-making
· Ability to multitask, triage, and prioritize effectively
· Strong communication and teamwork skills
· Surgery and dentistry experience preferred, but not required
Interested?
If a little unpredictability makes your workday more interesting, we'd love to hear from you.
