Responsibilities
- Prepare treatment areas with dental instruments, materials, and supplies, ensuring all equipment is sterilized and ready for use according to infection prevention management protocols.
- Assist dentists during various procedures such as restorations, extractions, oral surgery, implant placements, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry with precision and professionalism.
- Take and develop dental x-rays and 3D scans while adhering to dental x-ray safety standards and maintaining clinical confidentiality policies.
- Manage patient records accurately using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like opendental ; document medical history, vital signs, medical documentation, and treatment details in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Support dental reception duties by scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and managing patient flow efficiently as a dental receptionist.
- Maintain strict infection control standards through proper dental instrument processing, sterilization procedures, aseptic techniques, and adherence to healthcare infection prevention protocols.
- Assist with medical imaging procedures and ensure all clinical activities comply with anatomy knowledge, dental terminology, and medical coding requirements for accurate documentation.
Skills
- Proficiency in EMR systems such as open dental and dexis for seamless patient data management.
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy at all times.
- Experience with dental sterilization procedures, infection prevention management, and aseptic techniques.
- Knowledge of dental terminology across various specialties including prosthodontics, endodontics, oral surgery, pediatric dentistry, and general dentistry.
- Ability to operate dental equipment such as X-ray machines, 3D scanners, and medical imaging devices safely and effectively.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with team members like dental receptionists and hygienists while providing compassionate patient care.
- Familiarity with clinical confidentiality policies along with medical terminology relevant to dentistry and healthcare documentation.
