Special Education Classroom Assistant

Easterseals Western and Central Pennsylvania is a non-profit organization looking to hire a dynamic Level III or Level II Classroom Assistant to work with children with special needs ages 3-8 years old at our West Mifflin, PA location. The position is full-time, 7 hours a day at a range of $20-$23 per hour. This comes with a full benefit package valued at 6K. Come join our team and experience the growth of amazing children!

POSITION-Classroom Assistant III or II

QUALIFICATIONS: Classroom Assistant III

• Bachelor's (Required)
• PA Professional Teaching Certificate in Special Education, Elementary Education, and/or Early Childhood Education (Required)
• Special Education Experience: 1 Year (Preferred)
• Prior experience working with children with disabilities (ages birth to 8) preferred.
• Acceptable Criminal Record Check required.
• Acceptable Child Abuse History Clearance required.
• Acceptable Department of Education FBI Clearance required.
• Passing of physical examination and TB required.

QUALIFICATIONS: Position-Classroom Assistant II

• Associates or Bachelors required (preferably with major in Child Care, Elementary Education, Special Education or Human Services field).
• Evidence of 20 hours of annual staff development training related to position assignment required.
• Prior experience working with children with disabilities (ages birth to 8) preferred.
• Acceptable Criminal Record Check required.
• Acceptable Child Abuse History Clearance required.
• Acceptable Department of Education FBI Clearance required.
• Passing of physical examination and TB required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES-Classroom Assistant

• Planning and implementing activities to enhance students' skills.
• Assisting in implementing the students' IEP.
• Providing a safe and accepting classroom.
• Providing 1:1 instruction as needed.
• Assisting in the instructional program, integration program, and behavior management of students

• Work hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., 7-hours days. Working 35 hours per week, with a typical school calendar of 9.5 months per year! The hourly rate range is from $20-$23. We also offer the option to earn extra income with summer employment as well.
