JOB TITLE: JobCounselor/Job Coach
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Must have strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and time-management skills. Must be able to assess each client’s abilities and support needs; develop, implement, and evaluate individualized rehabilitation plans; document progress; and communicate outcomes to appropriate parties. Must work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Must be able to work independently, travel independently throughout the service area, solve problems, manage confidential information, maintain accurate case notes and reports, and use Microsoft Office and standard office equipment. This position may require prolonged periods of sitting, standing, or walking.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
1. Will work under the direct supervision of the Director of Workforce Operations
2. Will serve as a member of the rehabilitation team and will work in close coordination with other rehabilitation professionals in a consultative manner.
3. Will conduct interviews and eligibility assessments for new clients.
4. Will ensure that operations and activities under direct supervision are conducted safely and efficiently.
5. Will maintain accurate documentation, including case notes, intake paperwork, monthly reports, and progress tracking.
6. Will represent the department and the Center in public relations activities as requested. This will include visiting industries and businesses in the eight-county service area to establish relationships between ESWA and prospective employers of clients, as requested by the supervisor.
7. Will assist clients with career exploration, vocational planning, and job readiness training. Including but not limited to creating resumes, completing job applications, and preparing for interviews.
8. Will be responsible for department intakes and managing a caseload.
9. Will accompany consumers to interviews, work sites, etc. to measure performance and progress when necessary.
10. Will establish contact with employers and agencies, survey Indeed, etc., and other sources to locate work opportunities for consumers.
11. Will visit businesses and industries to establish working relationships and promote job opportunities for clients.
12. Will report the results of contacts and observations with written documentation.
13. Will maintain scheduled or timely contact with each employed client for retention.
14. Will also assist in the following programs:
a. Job Exploration Training (JET)
b. Drivers Education Programs
c. Virtual Reality Job Training
15. Will forward all required documentation to the referring agency.
16. Will provide on-the-job training/coaching for clients.
17. Will carry out other related duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
18. Will participate in In-Service training.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
An associate degree or two years or more of experience in vocational services preferred.
Case management and documentation experience.
Knowledge of workforce development and disability services.
Employer engagement and networking skills.
Experience in Word, Excel and computer technology
Must pass drug test, background check, and MVR.
