Your Role in Our Mission
As a Special Events & Volunteer Coordinator you’ll assist in organizing and coordinating annual special events, program specific activities, fundraising campaigns, and corporate volunteer initiatives. Key responsibilities include identifying and supporting third-party fundraising opportunities, executing special events, and managing logistics for stewardship activities, holiday drives, and corporate engagement activities. The role also provides backup support with CRM data entry, acknowledgment letters, and overall department operations. This position reports directly to the Director of Events & Community Engagement.

This is a Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. position, with some early mornings, evenings, and weekend hours required for events, volunteer activities, and short-notice needs..

Compensation & Benefits
- Hourly salary: $48,000 to $56,000 ($23.08 to $26.92)

What We’re Looking For
- Associate’s Degree in Business Administration, Communications, Nonprofit Management, or a related field. (preferred)
- 3 - 5 years of experience in development support, event coordination or volunteer management
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with CRM systems (Bloomerang preferred), Microsoft Office, and social media platforms.
- High attention to detail and ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Creativity in supporting engagement activities and assisting with program fundraising logistics.
- Ability to regularly travel to event locations, outreach sites, and volunteer activities throughout NC & VA.
- Ability to work Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m.–5:30 p.m.; however, some early mornings, evenings, and weekend hours will be required for events, volunteer activities, and short-notice needs.
- Valid driver’s license, insurance and reliable transportation for work-related travel
What You’ll Do
Fundraising Activities & Database Management
- Cross-train on Bloomerang CRM and generate acknowledgment letters when the Development Assistant is unavailable.
- Coordinate logistics for annual, pop-up, and third-party fundraising events as assigned.
- Assist with the development and coordination of program-driven fundraising activities, including mailings, social media assets, and online platforms.
- Serve as a point person for programmatic fundraising activities and campaigns.
- Communicate with universities across NC & VA to support volunteer and engagement opportunities.
- Assist with planning and logistics for stewardship activities developed by the Director Events & Community Engagement.
- Liaise with program leaders to organize volunteer opportunities, one-time service projects, and donation drives.
- Track volunteer participation and engagement for reporting purposes.
- Support the Development team in coordinating volunteer activities and stewardship events.
- Assist with supporting third-party and pop-up fundraising opportunities by coordinating logistics and preparing materials..
Essential Volunteer Engagement Functions
- Assist in carrying out volunteer opportunities.
- Represent ESPH at community events, churches, and outreach activities to support programs and volunteer initiatives.
- Assess any risks related to volunteer activities and elevate concerns as needed.
- Ensure all volunteer release forms are completed and documented.
