JOB SUMMARY: The Employment Specialist supports both youth and adults in achieving meaningful employment by providing job readiness training, career counseling, job placement assistance, and post-employment support. This role involves working closely with individuals, employers, and community partners to match job seekers with appropriate opportunities and ensure long-term employment success. Develop and implement transitional services for youth with disabilities that are focused on social, intellectual, and vocational growth. Secure person-centered, community-based learning and assist with the coordination of youth career camps, employment skills training, and work-based learning experiences for students transitioning out of educational settings. Serve as a vocational mentor, social coach, and community advocate while promoting preparation for a paid career. This position requires regular travel throughout Volusia and Flagler Counties to engage with community partners, attend local events, and meet with clients. A reliable personal vehicle, valid driver’s license, and proof of auto insurance are required.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

· Assess clients’ employment needs, skills, barriers, and career goals through interviews, testing, and Counseling.

· Develop individualized employment plans in collaboration with clients.

· Provide job readiness training, including resume development, interview preparation, and workplace etiquette.

· Foster relationships with local businesses in the community.

· Coordinate job fairs, recruitment events, and employer engagement initiatives.

· Assist clients with job applications, interview coaching, and onboarding processes.

· Identify job openings and build relationships with employers to create placement opportunities.

· Match clients to appropriate job openings and assist with the application process.

· Provide on-the-job support and follow-up to ensure job retention.

· Assist students with developing and improving communication skills for the workplace, requesting assistance, developing and maintaining professional relationships, problem-solving, manners in the workplace, active listening, and understanding the work culture through classroom-based learning and experiential learning in the community.

· Responsible for writing and submitting monthly reports and daily case notes accurately and promptly.

· Deliver classroom-based and community-based instruction on professional behavior, problem-solving, and understanding workplace culture.

· Maintain accurate records of client progress and outcomes using case management systems.

· Collaborate with social service agencies, training providers, and community resources to support clients’ broader needs.

· Track employment outcomes and prepare reports for internal and external stakeholders. Preserves the integrity and confidentiality of protected health information of Easterseals clients.

· Understands, acknowledges, and implements Easterseals privacy policies involving the disclosure of protected health information of Easterseals clients.

· Demonstrates a strong commitment to self-development.

· Maintains a clean, safe, hazard-free work environment.

· Completes all other assignments and responsibilities assigned by supervisor, is flexible and a team player.

· Acts in accordance with the Easterseals behavioral expectations, mission, vision and values.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

· Associates degree w/ one year of experience working with youth and/or adults with disabilities or two years of experience working in a vocational services program may be substituted for a college degree

· 1 year of experience working with adults with disabilities, justice-involved individuals, or long-term unemployed clients required

· Must be a Florida state resident

· Must possess a valid Florida driver’s license, reliable personal vehicle, and current auto insurance.

· Must maintain a clean driving record

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

· Possess knowledge of both vocational rehabilitation, youth transition, and adult programs

· Excellent interpersonal, communication, and public speaking skills.

· Ability and willingness to travel frequently throughout Volusia and Flagler Counties.

· Strong organizational, documentation, and report-writing skills.

· Ability to work independently

· Commitment to integrity, confidentiality, and professional ethics

· Demonstrates a strong commitment to self-development.

· Acts in accordance with the Easterseals behavioral expectations, mission, vision, and values.

· Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

· Knowledge of local labor market trends and employer needs

· Ability to work with diverse populations, including those with barriers to employment.

· Possess the qualities of integrity, tact, and good judgment.

PHYSICAL CAPABILITIES:

· Must be able to stand for up to 50 percent of the schedule shift

· Must be able to lift 20 lbs.

· Must be able bend, stoop, and reach as needed for community-based instruction.

USE OF TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT:

· Use of a computer

· Microsoft 365 proficiency

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

· This role involves frequent local travel within Volusia and Flagler Counties. The employee will be expected to use their own vehicle and may occasionally attend community events outside of regular business hours.

· Employees are required to work in a drug-free workplace.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
