Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or Equivilent
• Certified Medical Assistant
• Ability to speak Spanish a plus!
  
  

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Prior to the patient receiving services from medical staff:.
• Obtains relevant patient medical history summaries
• Takes patient vital signs (weight, blood pressure, etc.)
• Documents medical history summaries and vital signs in the electronic medical record
• Prepares patients for examination and explains treatment procedures to patients as needed.
• Collects and prepares laboratory specimens, and may perform basic laboratory tests on the premises.
• Disposes contaminated supplies.
• Schedules and administers medication injections, as ordered by medical staff, in accordance with rules and regulations (e.g., right patient, right medication, right dose, right route; physician must be on-site; proper billing, etc.).
• Instructs patients about medication and special diets, and orders/obtains injectable medications from the onsite/offsite pharmacy as directed by a medical staff member.
• May authorize drug refills as directed by medical staff and telephone prescriptions to a pharmacy.
• Maintain and provide medication samples to patients as directed by medical staff.
• Inputs lab information (e.g., clozapine REMS).
• Demonstrates knowledge of principles of trauma informed care, and willingness to support and assist consumers with trauma related issues.
