Defines and oversees implementation of curricula and best practices to achieve the highest standards and outcomes. Ensures classroom environment supports learning and individualized needs of each adult.

While performing the duties of this job, employee will comply with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations pertaining to Easterseals Arkansas.
Employee has access to all client protected health information within his/her program. Employee will not attempt to access any other protected health information unless otherwise approved by Supervisor or Privacy Officer.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Directly supervises assigned staff. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience:
A bachelor’s degree in education or related field with teaching certificate required. Experience as a lead teacher in high school or special education setting or curriculum specialist preferred. A minimum of three years field experience in similar position required or a minimum of seven years in lead teacher position. Supervisory and management experience in education setting preferred.
Competencies:
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is often required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

- Select and implement functional education curriculums and related programming that aligns with best practice guidelines for adults with disabilities.
- Assist teachers in the development and implementation of regular lesson plans and activities with linkage to curriculum and individual adult’s goals.
- Ensures that lesson plans incorporate best practices, accommodations, and adaptive equipment that best meets individual needs of each adult.
- Ensures that teachers and teaching assistants use strategies and techniques to improve functional outcomes.
- Periodically reviews lesson plans for timely completion, linkage to curriculum or other programming materials, functional and age appropriate activities, clear delineation of roles and responsibilities of teacher and teaching assistants, and well differentiated activities based on each individual’s need.
- Periodically reviews adult’s progress through review of data, notes and observations.
- Facilitate coordination of goals and objectives for the adults with therapies and other services received.
- Ensures classroom ratios are maintained throughout the day.
- Ensures that staff are trained to follow an individual’s behavior plan including identification of triggers, redirection, de-escalation, and documentation.
- Trains and then monitors teachers and teaching assistants to ensure that services are delivered in accordance with curriculum and lesson plans and that data and notes properly document the delivery of services in relation to goals and objectives.
- Maintains current knowledge of regulations for ADDT service to ensure compliance.
- Provide input in enrollment and classroom placement decisions.
- Support teachers in communicating with local school districts on admission, ongoing and discharge regarding education plans for individuals served.
- Ensure teachers and teaching assistants receive timely information about new adults including academic and medical history, functional abilities, behavior concerns and plan, if applicable, and plan goals and objectives.
- Implement and monitor system for ensuring that timelines are met with respect to completion of weekly data and weekly progress notes in medical records/billing system.
- Provide input in and assist with implementation and monitoring of quality assurance/quality improvement program.
- Support classrooms in gathering resources and materials needed to support quality instruction.
- Serve as liaison to families and other program areas as needed.
- Support teachers in creating a learning rich environment through classroom arrangement, use of visuals, and access to equipment and support needed for each individual served.
- Provide information and training to staff on any changes that impact programming and/or related documentation such as data collection, goals, and objectives, etc.
- Support teachers in creating classrooms that maintain an environment and activities in accordance with quality standards and best practices.
