Eastern States Construction Service is seeking an experienced Dirt Foreman to lead earthwork and grading crews on heavy civil construction projects. This is a working foreman position responsible for supervising daily field operations while actively participating in crew activities to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
Responsibilities
- Supervise, coordinate, and schedule daily activities of assigned grading/earthwork crews
- Prioritize and delegate tasks while maintaining a strong focus on jobsite safety
- Read and interpret construction plans, grades, and site layouts
- Coordinate equipment, materials, and subcontractors as needed
- Track and record daily time, production, and site conditions
- Communicate with the Superintendent or Project Manager to resolve issues and coordinate work
- Operate heavy equipment as needed, including dozers, excavators, loaders, and other earthmoving machinery
- Perform duties alongside crew members when required to maintain productivity
- Monitor work areas and inspect sites for potential hazards or safety concerns
- Ensure work meets required quality standards and grading specifications
- Perform additional tasks as required to support project completion
Requirements
- 3 years of leadership or supervisory experience in heavy civil construction or earthwork
- Strong knowledge of grading, excavation, and site development
- Ability to read construction plans and grade stakes
- Experience operating heavy equipment such as dozers, excavators, and loaders
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Valid driver’s license
- Successful completion of background and drug screening
