The Programs Director will lead all programming, tournament operations, and community engagement initiatives for Williamsport Lumber Yards. As one of the key leadership roles prior to and following the facility’s 2026 opening, the Programs Director will help shape the vision, schedules, partnerships, and operational systems that drive year-round activity at the complex. The Programs Director reports directly to the District General Manager.
This role requires a strategic thinker who is highly organized, relationship-driven, and passionate about youth sports, event management, and delivering world-class guest experiences.
Compensation: $45,000 - $50,000/Year
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Pre-Opening (2025–Early 2026)
- Collaborate with leadership to design program structures, league offerings, tournament schedules, and event templates.
- Assist with building relationships with travel organizations, sanctioning bodies, regional baseball/softball groups, and event partners.
- Contribute to the creation of operating procedures, safety plans, scheduling systems, and staffing frameworks.
- Support marketing efforts to promote the facility’s inaugural season.
- Participate in pre-opening event planning, community outreach, and open-house activities.
Program & League Management
- Develop and manage youth and adult baseball/softball leagues with seasonal schedules.
- Oversee player and team registration, rules administration, coach communication, and schedule updates.
- Ensure league operations are smooth, fair, safe, and family-friendly.
Tournament & Event Operations
- Plan, coordinate, and execute weekend tournaments, showcases, special events, and multi-day experiences.
- Serve as the main point of contact for tournament directors, coaches, and organizational partners.
- Create tournament brackets, oversee check-in, manage game-day schedules, and supervise event staff.
- Ensure fields, equipment, scoreboards, concessions, and amenities are ready for competition.
Community & Partnership Development
- Build and maintain relationships with local schools, travel teams, recreation programs, and national organizations.
- Represent the facility at community meetings, sports tourism events, and industry conferences.
- Collaborate with local businesses, sponsors, and tourism offices to promote economic impact.
Operational & Administrative Duties
- Oversee scheduling of fields, staffing, program calendars, and resource allocation.
- Provide regular participation, revenue, and performance reports to executive leadership.
- Manage program budgets, invoices, registrations, and vendor relationships. Work closely with the maintenance team to ensure optimal field conditions and facility readiness.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure all leagues, tournaments, and programs follow safety, conduct, and facility guidelines.
- Implement emergency and weather-delay protocols.
- Oversee incident reporting and ensure safety procedures are consistently followed.
- Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Recreation, Business Administration, or related field (preferred).
- 3–5 years of experience in tournament operations, sports programming, baseball/softball facility management, or equivalent.
- Strong knowledge of baseball and/or softball rules, scheduling, and event operations.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience supervising staff, officials, seasonal workers, and volunteers.
- Ability to work nights, weekends, and event-heavy seasons. Comfortable working outdoors for extended periods.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods during events.
- Ability to lift up to 40–50 lbs occasionally (equipment, supplies, etc.). Work occurs in outdoor environments with variable weather.
