The Hampton Virginia Aquaplex (HVA) is the largest of its kind in Virginia. Purpose-built for competitive aquatics. This state-of-the-art facility was designed to host Mid-Atlantic and national competitive swimming and diving events, artistic swimming, water polo, and more. Spectator seating for 1,500 overlook the eight-lane, 50-meter pool with two moveable bulkheads. Seating for 760 athletes occupies the wide, spacious pool decks for the smoothest of swim and dive event execution. Swimmer warm-up and warm-down is a breeze in the eight-lane, 25-yard programming pool, and nearby multi-purpose rooms provide space for event staging and hospitable functionality. A culinary center with two purchase points ensures spectators never miss an exciting moment.
The HVA is managed by Eastern Sports Management (ESM) based in Fredericksburg, Virginia. ESM’s management portfolio consists of venues in Virginia, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, and Tennessee.
T he Hampton Aquaplex is currently accepting applications for engineering and custodial staff. This employee is responsible for the overall appearance and operation of the physical plant. The job includes both traditional custodial tasks and day-to-day maintenance duties. We are seeking a candidate that takes pride in their workplace and will stand by their work, understanding that their work creates a comfortable and safe environment for our guests. This position reports to the Facilities Director.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain building cleanliness, presence, and supply levels of various areas throughout the facility
- Perform routine preventative and restorative maintenance
- Complete tasks to quality standards and within allotted schedule
- Perform cleaning duties including floors, walls, glass, and waste management (both daily and periodic deep cleaning)
- Service, clean, and supply restrooms and locker rooms
- Maintain the building exterior (ex. shoveling, de-icing, debris removal, sweeping, waste removal, etc.)
- Monitor quantity and status of cleaning supplies and equipment and submit restock requests as necessary
- Apply and monitor pest control program
- Carry out facility-improvement projects as required
- Perform related duties as required
Knowledge and Skill:
- Proven working experience in custodial services
- Knowledge of use, storage, and cleanup of cleaning chemicals and supplies
- Familiarity with Safety Data Sheets
- Ability to work independently with minimal guidance
- Ability to understand and follow oral directions in English
- Experience in the maintenance and cleaning of commercial buildings is preferred
- Knowledge of safe operation of commercial cleaning tools and machines
- Available to work weekends, evening, and holidays as required
- Ability to adapt to changing work priorities
- Demonstrated organizational and problem-solving skills
- This position requires successful completion of a criminal background check
