Lovelace Medical Center and Lovelace Heart Hospital are seeking an experienced Emergency Department leader to oversee operations across two Emergency Departments in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

This is an opportunity to lead a combined team of approximately 55-60 FTEs across a 21-bed Emergency Department and a 7-bed Emergency Department while driving quality outcomes, employee engagement, patient flow, and operational excellence.

About the Role

• Oversight of two Emergency Departments operating under one license
• 21-bed Emergency Department at Lovelace Medical Center
• 7-bed Emergency Department at Lovelace Heart Hospital
• Shared staffing model with approximately 55-60 FTEs
• Direct responsibility for operations, quality, patient satisfaction, staffing, employee engagement, and financial performance

Key Responsibilities

• Provide 24-hour leadership and operational oversight of both Emergency Departments
• Lead recruitment, retention, coaching, and development of nursing leaders and staff
• Improve employee engagement and department culture
• Drive patient flow, throughput, and operational efficiency initiatives
• Partner with physicians and hospital leadership to improve outcomes
• Develop and manage departmental budgets and productivity plans
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards
• Lead quality improvement and patient satisfaction initiatives
• Collaborate with Behavioral Health, ICU, Med-Surg, and other service lines
• Build strong relationships with frontline staff and physician partners

Required Qualifications

• Current RN license
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

OR

• Currently enrolled in an accredited BSN program with a documented completion date
• Minimum 3-5 years of clinical nursing experience
• Minimum 2 years of formal nursing leadership or management experience
• Demonstrated Emergency Department leadership experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in Nursing or related field
• Emergency Nursing certification or Nursing Leadership certification
• Director-level Emergency Department leadership experience
• Experience leading large teams in acute care settings

• Emergency Department leadership experience is strongly preferred.
• Candidates with ICU leadership experience may be considered.
• Candidates without Emergency Department or critical care leadership backgrounds are unlikely to be competitive.
