General Summary

Manage all University Event Services & Student Center audio/visual requirements; operate, maintain, replace, and build audio/visual equipment and systems that support large scale campus-wide events and operations. Train student staff in audio/visual equipment, systems, and practices. Manage campus events that utilize sound, lighting, multimedia equipment, and streaming. Assist with the daily operations of the Student Center and other campus event spaces.

Principal Duties And Responsibilities

  • Operate, test, troubleshoot, maintain, replace, build, and keep inventory of all audio/visual equipment and systems. Coordinate and follow through on all repair and maintenance of audio/visual equipment.
  • On-site management of events and their audio/visual needs and operations.
  • Responsible for operating and training student employees on all audio/visual equipment set-up including projection, sound, lighting, control systems, web streaming, and recording equipment.
  • Ensure all audio/visual equipment in the Student Center and other University Event Services locations is functioning properly on a daily basis.
  • Write and update audio/visual equipment guides. Coordinate and conduct user training sessions.
  • Be the point of contact for student employees and staff in regards to all audio/visual equipment questions and inquiries.
  • Perform other related departmental duties, as required.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Communication, Media, and Theater Arts, or other education or related degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience, is required.

Three years of demonstrated professional experience in audio/visual production is required.

Three years of professional experience in customer service is required.

Three years of progressively responsible experience in large events, conferences in a fast-paced multi-faced facility environment is required.

Proven knowledge and experience in computer programming and coding is required.

Proven experience to relate effectively, to program for and/or manage diverse groups of staff, college student employees is required.

Demonstrated extensive competency in building, operating, and maintaining built-in audio/visual systems in a commercial space including; lighting, sound, video, and streaming is required.

Ability to lift moderately heavy equipment is required.

Good Oral And Written Communication Skills Are Required.

Must be willing to work irregular and flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and some holidays.

Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrated extensive competency in streaming and video production. Knowledge in ATEM software control setup and operation, OBS Studio, DI boxes, HDMI switchers and splitters, PTZ cameras, NDI video workflows, and HDBaseT distribution systems is preferred.

Advanced knowledge in AV Systems such as, Allen & Heath AHM System Manager, XML configuration, multi-zone audio system configuration, and workflow automation and system customization is preferred.

Verified proficiency in audio infrastructures such as RJ45 custom cabling, signal flow design and troubleshooting, microphone systems and configuration, XLR wallplate wiring and routing, amplifier rewiring and configuration, amplifier zone configuration and routing, AV rack integration and infrastructure planning, and staged power conditioning systems is preferred.
