Job Summary:
The Student Employee is responsible for assisting the staff in the assigned department. The Student Employee works with a team of baristas to take orders, make drinks, upkeep the coffee shop’s cleanliness and supplies, and provide welcoming customer service.
- Provide excellent customer service to students, faculty, staff, and campus visitors.
- Complete department-specific projects as assigned.
- Attend to the workplace regularly, report to work punctually, and follow a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite.

Position Specific Duties/Responsibilities:
- Take orders using a Point of Sale (POS) system while providing warm and welcoming customer interaction.
- Make drinks ranging from coffees, teas, milkshakes, and specialty menu items.
- Maintain a clean and inviting coffee shop.
- Work 2-3 two-hour shifts each week and occasional four-hour weekend shifts.
- Work well within a team of baristas while creating an uplifting and supportive atmosphere.
- Exhibit proactive communication with managers and fellow baristas.
- Responsibly lock and unlock the Coffee Shop as needed or directed.

- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to make entry-level decisions.
- Demonstrate good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Willingness to ask questions.
- Understand basic department procedures.
- Ability to maintain a level of professionalism during working hours.
- Has a genuine desire to help their peers succeed.
- Be currently enrolled as an undergraduate student at EMU.
Education and Experience:
High School diploma.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit and use hands and fingers, to handle, or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and climb or balance. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
