Weekend Kennel & Front Desk Attendant:
Eastern Iowa Pet Resort is hiring a Weekend Kennel & Front Desk Attendant to help care for boarding and daycare dogs while also assisting customers at the front desk during our open hours.
This is a hands-on position that includes animal care, customer service, and a lot of cleaning. A good fit for this job is someone who is reliable, hardworking, positive, and comfortable working around dogs of all sizes and personalities.
Responsibilities
- Feed dogs according to each pet’s instructions
- Give medications as directed
- Clean and disinfect kennels, play areas, dishes, laundry, floors, and common areas
- Check dogs in and out for boarding.
- Help customers at the front desk and over the phone
- Handle dogs safely during feedings, playtime, kennel moves, and check-in/check-out
- Monitor dogs for behavior, health, and safety concerns
- Communicate clearly with coworkers and customers
- Follow cleaning, feeding, medication, and safety procedures
- Work as part of a team to keep the facility clean, safe, and running smoothly
What We’re Looking For
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic
- Comfortable cleaning, disinfecting, and staying busy
- Comfortable handling dogs of different sizes, breeds, and energy levels
- Good customer service and communication skills
- Able to follow instructions carefully
- Able to work weekends (AM & PM Shifts)
- Dog behavior knowledge or animal care experience is a plus, but not required
Physical Requirements
This job is active and cleaning-heavy. Applicants should be able to:
- Stand, walk, bend, squat, and lift throughout the shift
- Lift up to 50 lbs when needed
- Work around barking dogs, pet hair, cleaning products, and normal kennel messes
- Handle fast-paced moments calmly and professionally
Schedule
This is a weekend position. Availability on Saturdays and Sundays is required. Some holidays may also be required, since pets still expect room service even when humans want a day off.
