Eastern Iowa Pet Resort is hiring a dependable, hardworking person to help with weekend operations.
This position involves much more than playing with or caring for dogs. It is a fast-paced, hands-on role that combines animal care, extensive cleaning, facility upkeep, customer service, and front desk responsibilities.
We are looking for someone who has a strong work ethic, uses common sense, notices what needs to be done, and can stay productive without constant supervision.
Schedule
This is a part-time weekend position with variable hours based on business and staffing needs.
Available weekend shifts include:
- Saturday: 6:00 a.m.–11:00 a.m.
- Saturday: 3:00 p.m.–8:00 p.m.
- Sunday: 6:00 a.m.–11:00 a.m.
- Sunday: 3:00 p.m.–8:00 p.m.
The Saturday and Sunday 3:00 p.m.–8:00 p.m. shift is a regular and required part of this position. Additional Saturday and Sunday shifts will be scheduled as needed based on occupancy and staffing needs.
Applicants should have reliable weekend availability and be comfortable with hours that may vary from week to week. Some scheduled weekends may include both a morning and evening shift, with a break between shifts.
Responsibilities
Job duties include:
- Feeding dogs according to individual instructions
- Administering oral and topical medications as directed
- Letting dogs outside and monitoring their behavior
- Safely handling dogs of different sizes, breeds, and temperaments
- Cleaning kennels, suites, floors, dishes, bedding, play areas, and common areas
- Completing laundry, dishes, trash removal, sweeping, mopping, and general facility cleaning
- Maintaining a clean, organized, and sanitary environment throughout the shift
- Checking pets in and out at the front desk
- Greeting customers and providing professional customer service
- Reviewing feeding, medication, and care instructions with customers
- Answering phones and assisting with basic customer questions
- Accurately documenting feeding, medications, bathroom habits, and completed tasks
- Reporting concerns about a dog’s health, behavior, appetite, or condition
- Helping with other responsibilities needed to keep the facility running smoothly

Physical Requirements
Applicants must be able to:
- Stand and walk for most of the shift
- Bend, kneel, squat, reach, and repeatedly move throughout the facility
- Lift and carry up to approximately 50 pounds
- Safely handle strong, large, or energetic dogs
- Work around barking, pet hair, cleaning products, urine, feces, and normal kennel odors
- Work indoors and outdoors in changing weather conditions
- Perform physically demanding cleaning and animal-care tasks

This is a fast-paced, hands-on position that involves much more than spending time with dogs. Thorough cleaning, organization, accuracy, customer service, and completing tasks efficiently are major parts of every shift.
Dependability is essential. Applicants must be able to arrive on time, work independently, follow detailed instructions, and remain productive without constant supervision.

Compensation:
Pay may depend on experience, availability, reliability, and demonstrated job performance.
