Eastern Illinois University’s Health and Counseling Services, in Charleston, IL, is seeking candidates for the position of Clinical Counselor, Counseling Services.

This is a permanent, full-time, 10-month Academic Support Professional position, with service occurring during the academic year from August 1 through May 30. The employee does not work during June and July. The start date is as soon as possible and may be negotiable based on the academic calendar.

Responsibilities:
This position reports to the Associate Director for Counseling Services. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide direct clinical services including individual counseling and group therapy;
  • Provide risk assessment & crisis intervention services for students;
  • Conduct intakes, assessments, crisis intervention, and triage services for students presenting with a range of concerns;
  • Assess student needs and deliver appropriate interventions, including referrals to community providers when necessary.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential clinical documentation.
  • Provide consultation services to students, faculty, staff, & others as needed;
  • Provide clinical supervision of graduate students and assist with intern training;
  • Serving as a liaison to specific student groups and/or university offices
  • Engage in outreach and psychoeducational programming for students, faculty, and staff

Qualifications:
Position requirements include:

  • Master’s degree in Counseling, Clinical Psychology, or Social Work from an accredited institution, with coursework and supervised training completed that meets the educational requirements for clinical licensure in Illinois, by hire date.
  • Minimum of a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or Licensed Social Worker (LSW) in the State of Illinois required. *Individuals who are eligible for licensure in the State of Illinois may apply. License-eligible candidates must be working towards all licensure requirements by the time of hire, including passing applicable licensing exams and applying for LPC/LSW licensure within 6 months of start date. Only candidates who are eligible for licensure in the State of Illinois will be considered.
  • Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Illinois preferred.
  • Ability to facilitate effective interpersonal relationships and to communicate with a wide range of students, faculty, staff, administrators, parents, and others through one-on-one work, consultations, trainings, or presentations;
  • Strong clinical skills, including experience with high-risk populations and a wide range of presenting concerns

Salary:

  • Salary Range for LPC/LSW is $4500-$4700 a month for 10 months (may be split between 12 months).
  • Salary Range for LCPC/LCSW is $4750-$6000 a month for 10 months (may be split between 12 months).

Contingent upon Unit B ASP Union pay scale
