Eastern Greene Schools is seeking a licensed Registered Nurse (RN) to serve as the full-time Corporation Nurse. This is a salaried position working 185 days per year on a January–December contract, with time off during all scheduled school breaks—including summer. Although the position is off during breaks, pay is evenly distributed across 12 months.
The Corporation Nurse oversees student health services across all K–12 buildings, supervises the district’s LPN, and works closely with school administrators to support the health and wellness needs of students and staff.
We are looking for a team player who is upbeat, flexible, and willing to adjust to the school setting as it changes each day. The ideal candidate is student-focused, collaborative, and confident in navigating a wide range of daily responsibilities.
Qualifications
- Current Indiana licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
- CPR and First Aid certification (must be maintained)
- Experience working with children or in a school setting preferred
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
- Knowledge of diabetes care, seizure disorders, allergies/anaphylaxis, and other chronic conditions
- Willingness to receive ongoing training related to student health conditions
Job Goals
- Promote and protect student health across the district’s K–12 buildings
- Supervise and support the school LPN in daily responsibilities
- Reduce health-related barriers to student learning
- Work collaboratively with building administrators to address student health needs
- Serve as a trusted resource for students, families, and staff regarding medical concerns
Expectations
- Supervise the district’s school LPN and collaborate regularly on student care
- Work with school administrators to support building-level needs related to health and safety
- Dispense and document daily student medications
- Track controlled medication counts and notify families when refills are needed
- Evaluate symptomatic students and determine the appropriate response
- Maintain up-to-date digital health records including visits, immunizations, and medical alerts
- Schedule and assist with vision and dental screenings
- Provide care and emergency response for students with chronic health needs such as diabetes, seizure disorders, or allergies
- Attend case conferences or meetings related to student health, as needed
- Stay current on training requirements for all health conditions that may arise
- Demonstrate flexibility and positivity in responding to the day-to-day needs of a school setting
- Perform additional duties as assigned by school and district administration
