Middle School Instructional Assistant

Eastern Greene Middle School is hiring a dedicated and dependable Instructional Assistant. This part-time role (28 hours/week) is ideal for someone who enjoys working with students and supporting classroom learning.

Instructional Assistants play an essential role in helping provide high-quality instruction and a safe, supportive learning environment. The ideal candidate is collaborative, patient, and willing to assist with a wide variety of classroom and school tasks.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Preferred: 1–2 years of related experience, or a combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates the required knowledge and skills
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to build rapport with students and work cooperatively with staff and families
• Dependability and flexibility to assist across multiple classroom settings

Job Goals

• Support instructional delivery by assisting individual students and small groups
• Help manage classroom behavior to maintain a safe and effective learning environment
• Provide coverage for teachers as needed for meetings, conferences, or emergencies
• Assist with the preparation and cleanup of classroom materials
• Monitor students during non-instructional times such as lunch, recess, and transitions

Expectations

• Establish positive, compassionate relationships with students
• Demonstrate flexibility and a team-oriented approach
• Monitor student safety and administer basic first aid when needed
• Support daily classroom operations and learning activities under administrator and teacher direction
• Perform other duties as assigned by the teacher or principal
• Physical activities may involve walking or standing for extended periods
