Description
Eastern Greene High School is seeking a motivated and experienced Varsity Volleyball Coach to lead the Thunderbird Volleyball Program. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, excellent communication skills, and a passion for developing student‑athletes both on and off the court. This position oversees the full volleyball program, including varsity, junior varsity, and feeder-level involvement.
The coach will work to build a competitive program that emphasizes sportsmanship, player development, teamwork, and community pride. Teaching positions may be available but are not guaranteed.
Qualifications
- Varsity coaching experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of volleyball fundamentals, strategy, and training
- Demonstrated communication and organizational skills
- Ability to mentor staff and student-athletes
- Ability to comply with all program, conference, and IHSAA expectations

- Encourage student-athlete development at all levels—high school, middle school, and youth
- Promote academic success, sportsmanship, and positive character development
- Strengthen the visibility and engagement of the volleyball program within the community
Expectations
- Oversee all levels of the Thunderbird Volleyball Program (Varsity, JV, Jr. High, Youth Clubs)
- Assist in selecting and vetting coaches for all program levels
- Provide guidance and instruction for lower-level coaches regarding fundamentals and program philosophy
- Coordinate program fundraising to support needs beyond Athletic Department allocations
- Communicate clearly with players and parents regarding expectations, schedules, and events
- Highlight athletes and program achievements; maintain and distribute a quarterly newsletter
- Utilize district-approved technology for communication and updates
- Model appropriate conduct and leadership
- Create excitement around the program by organizing events that engage families and fans
- Actively support other school functions and promote school spirit
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Athletic Director
