The Fire Alarm Service Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining fire alarm and life safety systems to ensure proper operation and compliance with all applicable codes and standards. This role is critical to maintaining system reliability and protecting lives and property.
Key Responsibilities
- Service, troubleshoot, and repair fire alarm systems at commercial and industrial properties
- Diagnose system troubles including wiring, devices, panels, and communication issues
- Perform system testing in accordance with NFPA 72 and local code requirements
- Replace and program fire alarm devices such as smoke detectors, pull stations, modules, horns, strobes, and control panels
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams
- Identify deficiencies and recommend corrective actions
- Complete detailed service reports and documentation for all work performed
- Communicate clearly with customers regarding system issues and repairs
- Maintain company vehicle, tools, and equipment in good working order
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures
Qualifications
- Proven experience working on fire alarm systems (required)
- Strong knowledge of fire alarm panels and devices
- Understanding of NFPA 72, fire codes, and life safety standards
- Ability to troubleshoot low-voltage electrical systems
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently in the field
- Good customer service and communication skills
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
Preferred
- Manufacturer certifications (Notifier, Silent Knight, Fire-Lite, EST, Siemens, etc.)
- NICET certification (or working toward it)
- Experience with inspections and testing
Physical Requirements
- Ability to climb ladders and work at heights
- Ability to lift equipment and tools (up to 50 lbs)
- Work in mechanical rooms, ceilings, and construction environments

Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
