Summary

As the Operations Manager, you will lead the day-to-day operations of the Distribution Center, manage all aspects of operational safety and health, order fulfillment and delivery, inventory management, fleet and equipment operations and continuous improvement, exceeding safety, quality, and delivery goals. You will be responsible for achieving Customer Service success while directing and coordinating activities of the organization to increase productivity, decrease and eliminate waste, and maximize profits by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities Include The Following

Leadership

  • Hire and develop people and teams that personify and exemplify the Company's core values.

Inventory and Order Fulfillment

  • Manage complete inventory lifecycle from receiving and stocking to picking, restocking, wrapping and rewrapping, cycle counting, returns and adjustments.
  • Work closely with the EWP Product Manager to maintain inventory accuracy and to understand demand runs and trends.
  • Manage complete order fulfillment lifecycle from receipt of pick ticket, designing orders, creating work orders, issuing work, picking, cutting, banding, loading, securing, and delivery.

Procurement

  • Perform analysis and make recommendations on optimal inventories levels to support JIT.
  • Perform procurement and transaction processing activities for various operations.
  • Perform procurement functions for non-routine goods and services.
  • Create and manage local contracts for supplies and services.
  • Pursue opportunities to consolidate larger dollar purchases and supply management to include storerooms.
  • Support capital projects for wood products distribution facilities.

Customer Service and Vendor Relations

  • Develop and maintain support relationships with key local service providers.
  • Investigate and resolve customer complaints and issues.
  • Support resolution of supplier and product issues.
  • Develop and maintain primary relationships with key equipment and material suppliers.

Fleet Management

  • Work with the Fleet Supervisor to maintain all aspects of FMCSA, USDOT, State and local regulations related to Class VIII trucks and fleet operations.
  • Manage performance and activities of drivers, directly or through a Lead Driver.

Safety, Continuous Improvement and Project Management

  • Lead and support daily safety operations by reinforcing safety procedures, PPE and culture.
  • Lead and support the Continuous Improvement program through monthly 5S, 8D root cause investigation, project work and ongoing training
  • Lead projects from ROI/budgeting phase to completion.
  • Ensure project success with seamless communication and timeline accountability.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year College, trade or vocational training resulting in professional certificate and/or on-the-job training and experience with an emphasis on managing people, processes, and equipment. A minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience with increasing responsibility is preferred.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual will demonstrate expertise with the Microsoft Office suite, exhibiting exceptional skills with the use of Excel. Knowledge of Workday Adaptive Insights, BisTrack, or other ERP software a plus.

Location and Travel

This is an in-person position and is not a remote position. Occasional overnight travel is required. Sometimes, video conference sessions will negate the need for travel.
