Responsibilities
- Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely payments and collections
- Perform bank reconciliations and general ledger account reconciliations regularly to maintain data integrity
- Prepare journal entries and support month-end and year-end closing activities in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
- Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, and other financial systems to record transactions accurately
- Assist with payroll processing, including data entry and compliance with relevant regulations
- Conduct balance sheet reconciliation and ensure all financial records adhere to accounting standards
- Support budgeting processes by maintaining spreadsheets and preparing financial reports as needed
- Reconcile accounts using double-entry bookkeeping principles, ensuring debits equal credits across all ledgers
- Assist with governmental and non-profit accounting requirements when applicable
- Maintain detailed documentation of all financial transactions for audit readiness
Skills
- Proven experience with accounting software including QuickBooks Online, Xero, Sage, and other financial systems
- Strong knowledge of GAAP standards, governmental accounting, and non-profit accounting practices
- Proficiency in spreadsheets (Excel or Google Sheets) for data analysis and report writing
- Ability to perform bank reconciliation, account reconciliation, and balance sheet reconciliation accurately
- Familiarity with payroll processing, accounts payable/receivable management, and journal entries
- Understanding of technical accounting concepts such as debits & credits, double-entry bookkeeping, and general ledger accounting
- Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills for managing multiple tasks simultaneously
- 10 key typing skills for efficient data entry and account reconciliation tasks
- Knowledge of tax regulations related to payroll and financial reporting is a plus
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment
