Medical Assistant
Eastern Cardiology is a physician-owned practice that has served the cardiovascular needs of Eastern North Carolina for decades. We're looking for a full-time Medical Assistant with cardiology experience to join our clinical team, working under the direct supervision of a physician or advanced practice provider.
Responsibilities
- Prep charts before visits, enter test results, and complete patient health histories
- Initiate and follow through on prior authorizations for medications
- Room patients, obtain vital signs, and reconcile allergies, medications, and labs in the EHR
- Perform EKGs and apply Holter monitors
- Manage faxes, refill requests, and EHR message queues
- Field patient calls on clinical concerns and document per office policy
- Stock and maintain exam rooms and clinical areas
- Support clinic flow and keep patients moving on schedule
- Follow all safety, privacy, and regulatory standards
Other duties may be assigned as needed.
Qualifications
- 2 years of Medical Assistant experience; cardiology preferred
- Current CPR/BLS certification
- Proficiency with rooming, vitals, med reconciliation, and EKGs
- EHR experience required; Veradigm (formerly Allscripts) strongly preferred
- Solid grasp of medical terminology and clinical documentation
- Comfortable in a fast-paced clinic supporting multiple providers
- Reliable, detail-oriented, and professional with patients and staff
- Experience completing prior authorizations; familiarity with CoverMyMeds preferred
