General
The Payroll Clerk is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of employee payroll. This role supports payroll operations through data entry, verification of time and attendance records, payroll reporting, and resolution of employee inquiries.
The ideal candidate is highly detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage confidential information with professionalism in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
Process payroll for hourly and salaried employees on bi-weekly and semi-monthly schedules.
Review and verify timesheets, attendance records, and pay data for accuracy.
Enter and maintain employee information in payroll systems, including new hires, terminations, and pay changes.
Calculate and process pay adjustments such as overtime, bonuses, and deductions.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour regulations.
Assist with year-end activities, including preparation and distribution of W-2s.
Respond to employee inquiries related to pay, direct deposit, and tax documentation in a timely and professional manner.
Maintain accurate payroll records and safeguard sensitive information.
Support internal and external audits and generate payroll reports as requested.
Partner with HR and Accounting to ensure alignment and data integrity.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s degree in accounting or a related field preferred.
1–2 years of payroll processing or related administrative/finance experience.
Familiarity with payroll systems or HR technology platforms.
Basic knowledge of wage and hour laws and payroll tax practices.
Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.
Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and standard office software.
