Jr. Tax Accountant

Eastern Accounting & Consulting is an established CPA firm in Flushing, Queens, serving small businesses and working families since 1995. We are seeking a motivated Jr. Tax Accountant to join our team of professionals, who deliver value-added accounting and tax services to our clients.

As a Jr. Tax Accountant, you will prepare individual and small business tax returns under the guidance of our senior tax accountants and CPAs. You will also learn how to set up payroll for new business clients. This is an excellent opportunity to build a career in public accounting with hands-on training.

• Prepare individual income tax returns and assist with small business tax returns and sales tax filings, with review by senior staff.
• Learn to set up payroll accounts for new business clients, and work with our payroll team, which runs payroll.
• Coordinate with our Client Accounting Services team to obtain completed financial records for tax preparation.
• Collect and organize client documents, and follow up with clients on missing information.
• Respond to routine client questions, and escalate complex matters to senior staff.
• Help with e-filing, business registrations, and other administrative filings as needed.
• Support the team with workflow during tax season.

• Associate degree or higher in accounting or a related field.
• 0 to 2 years of experience in tax preparation; internship experience counts.
• Fluency in Mandarin Chinese and English.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Good communication and client service skills.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Willingness to learn, including payroll, and to accept feedback.

• Ongoing on-the-job training from experienced CPAs and tax accountants, including payroll setup.
• A clear path to Staff Tax Accountant and Senior Tax Accountant as your skills develop.

• Hourly pay $23-28 based on experience, plus bonus and overtime pay.
