Overview
Easterly Government Properties is seeking a Vice President of Acquisitions to oversee the full acquisition lifecycle from identification, evaluation, underwriting, negotiation and closing of transactions that align with our REIT investment strategy. This individual plays a critical role in expanding and diversifying the portfolio, creating long-term value through strategic acquisitions across targeted property sectors. Real estate development experience is strongly preferred.
This role will report directly to the EVP of Acquisitions. The position is based in West Palm Beach, Florida, and requires periodic travel to support deal execution and relationship management.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Deal Sourcing & Underwriting
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers, owners, developers, and other industry contacts to source both marketed and off-market opportunities
- Monitor market trends and competitive dynamics to identify strategic acquisition targets
- Lead underwriting of potential investments using ARGUS, Excel, and other valuation tools
- Assess risks, perform market and financial due diligence, and prepare investment committee memos
- Transaction Management
- Oversee negotiations of LOIs and Purchase & Sale Agreements (PSAs)
- Coordinate with legal, finance, asset management, and external consultants through the due diligence and closing process
- Strategy & Execution
- Contribute to the development and execution of the REIT’s overall investment strategy
- Evaluate portfolio performance and recommend acquisition strategies based on market dynamics and company goals
- Assist with analysis and presentations related to strategic corporate initiatives, Board of Directors meetings, Company financial disclosures, etc.
- Team Leadership
- Supervise and mentor junior acquisitions personnel and interns
- Work cohesively with other departments (finance, development, asset management, government relations, accounting, etc.)
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Real Estate, Economics, or related field. An MBA or advanced degree is a plus
- 7 years of experience in real estate acquisitions, investment banking, private equity, or related roles
- Proficiency in ARGUS, Excel, and real estate market research platforms
- Proven track record of successful deal execution in one or more asset classes. Experience in assessing and underwriting GSA leases is preferred.
