Position Overview:
Easterseals Massachusetts is seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative Junior Accountant to support daily accounting operations for both Easterseals Massachusetts and our eSMART Services clients. The Junior Accountant plays a key role in accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, and general accounting, while also providing backup support for critical cash functions and assisting with reconciliations, journal entries, and audit preparation in partnership with the Finance team.
Essential Functions:
Accounts Payable
- Assist with processing, coding, and entering vendor invoices into the accounting system
- Maintain accurate vendor records and resolve invoice or payment discrepancies
- Support check runs and ensure timely vendor payments
- Serve as backup for AMEX and other credit card reconciliations, working closely with Purchasing
- Prepare vendor and related general ledger reconciliations as needed
- Maintain organized and accurate invoice documentation and files
Accounts Receivable & Billing
- Assist with billing, daily bank deposits, invoicing, and cash application
- Enter and maintain customer data in the accounting system
- Support online customer billing systems and payment vouchers
- Assist with research and resolution of billing and A/R discrepancies
- Serve as backup for wire transfers, bank deposits, and daily cash reporting
General Accounting
- Assist the AVP of Finance with:
- Monthly account reconciliations
- Journal entries
- Audit preparation
- Coordination and monitoring of financial functions
Additional Responsibilities
- Provide backup support for the Alternative Finance Loan Program
- Provide administrative support to the AVP of Finance and the Chief Financial Officer as needed
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications & Required Skills:
- Associate degree in Accounting or related field (Bachelor’s degree preferred)
- 1–3 years of accounting, AP/AR, or bookkeeping experience
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Working knowledge of accounting software and Microsoft Excel
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach
- Experience in nonprofit or multi-entity environments is a plus
