SUMMARY:

  

      The Center Support Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and overseeing the daily operations of the

      center's after-school program by ensuring a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate environment for children.

      The position provides day-to-day operational leadership during after-school program hours, coordinates

      program activities, supports staff in delivering high-quality services, and serves as the primary on-site point of contact

      until relieved by the Center Manager or other designated administrator. This position promotes compliance

      with Head Start Performance Standards, Bright from the Start licensing requirements, organizational policies,

      and all applicable health and safety standards while supporting positive outcomes for children and families.

      This position does not have independent authority to hire, terminate, promote, or administer formal disciplinary action.

 

      ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to):

 

 

 

Program Operations

  • Develops, coordinates, implements, and evaluates engaging after-school activities that support children's academic, social, emotional, and physical development.
  • Coordinates daily after-school operations to ensure safe, organized, and efficient delivery.
  • Ensures compliance with all ESNG policies, Head Start Performance Standards, Bright from the Start licensing requirements, and safety procedures.
  • Maintains attendance records, program documentation, incident reports, and other required records accurately and timely.
  • Coordinates supplies, equipment, and learning materials necessary for daily programming.
  • Assists with monitoring program budgets and resource utilization.

 

Operational Leadership

  • Provides day-to-day operational direction and guidance to After-School Teachers during program hours to ensure consistent implementation of program expectations.
  • Coordinates staff assignments and classroom coverage to maintain required child-to-staff ratios and safe supervision.
  • Serves as the highest-ranking on-site operational representative during after-school hours when the Center Manager is not present.
  • Responds to operational issues, parent concerns, emergencies, and safety matters within the scope of assigned authority.
  • Communicates staffing, operational, and performance concerns to the Center Manager in a timely manner.
  • Documents employee attendance issues, performance concerns, and policy violations and provides factual information to assist the Center Manager with employment decisions.
  • Recommends coaching or corrective action when operational or policy concerns are identified.

 

Authority During Program Operations

  • Has the authority to immediately remove an employee from classroom duties or send an employee home when necessary to protect the health, safety, or well-being of children, families, staff, or the operation of the program.
  • Immediately notifies the Center Manager or designated administrator of any action taken involving employee conduct or safety concerns.
  • Completes all required documentation related to incidents involving staff, children, or program operations.
  • Does not independently issue written disciplinary action, suspend employees, terminate employment, conduct performance evaluations, or make final employment decisions.

 

Family & Community Engagement

  • Builds positive relationships with children, families, schools, and community organizations.
  • Coordinates with teachers, specialists, and community partners to enhance after-school programming.
  • Assists families in accessing community resources and support services when appropriate.
  • Addresses behavioral concerns using positive guidance techniques and established program procedures.

 

 

 

 

Classroom & Center Support

  • Provides active classroom support as needed to maintain licensing ratios, ensure child supervision, and support educational activities and meal service.
  • Uses classroom observations to better understand children's developmental needs and support individualized Family Partnership Agreements.
  • Assists other center staff during periods of increased operational need.

 

Compliance

  • Ensures compliance with confidentiality requirements, child supervision standards, health and safety regulations, and organizational policies.
  • Reports suspected child abuse or neglect in accordance with mandated reporter requirements.
  • Assists during licensing visits, audits, monitoring reviews, and emergency preparedness activities.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

     MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or GED required; CDA or Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience working with children in a licensed childcare, Head Start, school-age, or youth development program.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Prior experience coordinating activities, leading teams, or serving in a lead worker capacity preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing needs.
  • Ability to learn and navigate technology
  • CPR/First Aid certification, Fire Safety- or ability to complete upon hire
  • Satisfactory Comprehensive Records Check Determination
  • Successful completion 40-hour director's training course within organizational timeframes

 

     KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate the work of others in a collaborative environment.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment during emergencies and operational situations.
  • Ability to effectively document incidents, operational concerns, and policy violations.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with staff, families, regulatory agencies, and community partners.
  • Ability to de-escalate conflict and resolve routine operational issues independently while recognizing when leadership intervention is required.

 

     PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Experience in curriculum planning or youth enrichment activities.
  • Knowledge of child development principles and behavior management strategies.
  • Bilingual abilities are a plus.

 

 

P     PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • The ability to stand for sustained periods of time.
  • The ability to sit for sustained periods of time.
  • The ability to use hands and fingers to cook, stir, open containers, feel, operate a computer, and perform picking, pinching and whole hand or arm handling tasks.
  • The ability to climb stairs.
  • The ability to reach, extending arms in any direction.
  • The ability to push or pull objects weighing up to fifty pounds.
  • The ability to lift and carry food containers and cooking equipment as needed up to fifty pounds.
