Job Summary
The Design Engineer 3 is a senior level engineer who provides engineering support on systems, system elements, interfacing systems, components, devices and/or processes. Possesses broad knowledge of industry practices, standards, and technology areas. Works as either technical or programmatic lead of a team and assists with solving complex problems in an engineering discipline. Develops strategic and implementation plans.
Essential Functions
- Works on multiple highly complex major projects requiring innovative, original solutions
- May plan multiple projects simultaneously. Estimates, tracks & completes project on time and within budget.
- Subject Matter Expert in at least one area or system.
- Strong technical, proposal and report writing skills with ability to collect or generate all necessary backup material.
- Exercises considerable latitude and technical judgment in deciding work methods.
- Can lead a group of engineers and technicians, responsible for budget and manpower estimates.
- Develops innovative solutions to unique problems.
- Works mostly independently with minimal supervision.
- Exercises substantial initiative/ judgment in work methods and in interpreting goals.
- Able to give effective presentations to critical/high level customers.
- Knowledgeable in all technical areas of the group's scope or having a demonstrated ability to achieve that level of proficiency in a short period of time.
- Responsible for large and fairly complex projects.
- Ability to work well with and mentor both high and low performers in a team or group environment, setting expectations, and providing input and feedback in a helpful way that fosters accountability. Ability to deal with personnel problems in a constructive manner.
- Proven leadership skills. Identifies problems and actively devises appropriate solutions.
- Ability to continuously improve through additional training or research
Qualifications/Minimum requirements
- U.S. Citizenship Required.
- BSME or equivalent educational degree required.
- Minimum six (6) years or demonstrated capability in an Engineering role, experience within a manufacturing environment and aerospace industry preferred.
- Strong knowledge of AS9100 and ISO requirements.
- Ability to read, write, and speak in English proficiently.
- Strong work ethic; can work independently or in a group.
- Highly professional with excellent telephone etiquette.
- Must be detail oriented, self-motivated and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
Salary Range: $90k to $100k annually. This estimated range represents a good faith projection of what we believe is a competitive compensation range for this position. Please understand that the offered salary will be determined based on factors such as the applicant's credentials, experiences, and the specific requirements of the role, as well as potential internal equity and external market considerations. We do not customarily hire at the top end of the range. East/West adheres to pay transparency and equity principles and strives to remain competitive within the market.
