Cost Engineer

Job Overview

This role partners closely with operations, analyzes manufacturing costs, identifies cost-saving opportunities, and contributes to process improvements that enhance reporting accuracy and operational efficiency.

In this position, you will use established manufacturing and industrial engineering methods to analyze costs, provide guidance to internal stakeholders, and support cost optimization activities.

Success in this role requires curiosity, analytical rigor, and a collaborative mindset within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Principal Duties and Essential Functions

• Identify opportunities and recommend cost reduction initiatives.
• Maintain, review and analyze monthly production cost reports; identify cost variances, root causes, and corrective actions.
• Perform benchmark analyses of assembly hours and fabrication costs against.
• Support and coordinate cost-measure investigations, including data collection, analysis, and follow-up actions.
• Support inventory functions, including physical inventory observations, cycle count programs, inventory reconciliations, and excess/obsolete analyses.
• Assist in the execution and documentation of internal control processes and compliance initiatives.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, operations, and supply chain teams to evaluate cost drivers and support continuous improvement efforts.
• Analyze and improve existing workflows and processes to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance overall productivity in our manufacturing operations.
• Participate in CI projects from inception to completion, including scoping, budgeting, timelines, and resource allocation.
• Provide project management support for initiatives involving process improvements, equipment enhancements, and facility optimizations.
• Identify bottlenecks and recommend data-driven solutions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience

• 1–3 years in manufacturing cost engineering, production engineering, or process improvement.
• Experience in cost variance analysis, and manufacturing KPI management.

Qualifications/Skills:

· Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.

• Strong project management skills; experience participating in cross-functional projects and stakeholder meetings.
• Advanced Excel skills (PivotTables, Power Query); Power BI experience preferred.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills; willingness to work on the shop floor.
• Problem-solving skills
• High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work independently on complex tasks while also thriving in collaborative team environments.

· Familiarity with ERP systems

Additional PREFERRED Qualifications/Skills:

· Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodologies, and process mapping tools (e.g., Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen).

· Certification in Lean Six Sigma (Green Belt or higher).

Pay: From $65,000.00 per year
