Who are we?
Help Me Grow Home Visiting is a voluntary family support program for pregnant women or new parents. Offered in every county of the state through a well-established network, Help Me Grow Home Visiting is an evidence-based program that promotes healthy growth and development for babies and young children.
The East Toledo Family Center is the Host Organization for this program in Seneca County, Ottawa County and Lucas County. ETFC was established in 1901 to help families and children, growing and adding programs over the years and now HMG is one of the largest reaching programs we have. This position is specifically for serving Lucas County families!

What do we do?
The Healthy Families America Home Visiting Family Support Specialist (FSS) is responsible for building trusting relationships with families based on the Healthy Families America model. The FSS will visit families in their homes (virtually and in person) to provide support in establishing positive home environments, promote strong attachments through the parent child relationships, and encourage the well-being of children and families. Utilizing an infant mental health approach, the FSS will practice reflective strategies to strengthen parent-child relationships, improve parenting skills, teach effective problem-solving, and reduce family stress.

Every visit our home visitors are bringing our evidenced based, Growing Great Kids, curriculum and partnering with the caregivers to improve what they are already doing with their child and inform of even more possibilities. We discuss and strengthen topics from basic care of infants/toddlers to coping with stress to building language, physical, and cognitive development, all while bringing fun activities for the family to do together. Our Help Me Grow team must have a passion to support families of all background and cultures and a strong desire to help guide caregivers to reach their potential.

Pay offs working as a Home Visitor:
Each home visitor is in charge of their own caseload, communicating with families, education parents on child development and community resources, developing an intentional plan for each family, meeting each family on a regular basis, and meeting monthly goals. Supervisors are always there for support and weekly 1:1 meetings are required to hear about all the successes, challenges and anything in between you experience. Flexibility schedule is offered and required as we plan our visits around the families' schedule.

Qualifications:

• Associates Degree (preferred) or experience in the Early Childhood Education or Infant Development field.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
• We serve a multicultural population and some of the families we serve are Spanish and Arabic speaking. If the candidate is fluent in other languages, please indicate so on your survey.
• Required to maintain car insurance for bodily injury & property damage Liability coverage of $100,000 each person/$300,000 each accident/$50,000 each accident.
• A reliable vehicle for daily visits around the county.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds independently.
