POSITION: Part-Time Clinical Instructor of Speech-Language Pathology
DESCRIPTION:
East Texas Baptist University invites applications for a part-time position in Speech-Language Pathology Graduate Program. The position will include educating, mentoring and supervising graduate students performing client screenings, evaluations, and treatment (pediatric and adult) at the Dr. William B. Center for Language and Literacy Development. Clinical instructors review all clinical notes for each client and assess the clinical performance and documentation skills of students.
DUTIES:
ETBU seeks a qualified individual with a master’s degree or higher in Speech-Language Pathology with appropriate state license and ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence. Candidates should have at least 5 years of clinical experience and completion of the ASHA requirement for supervision of graduate students. Supervision experience with graduate students and/or Clinical Fellows is preferred. Candidates must have a strong commitment to academic scholarship, clinical instruction, and student development, as well as the ability to communicate well with students and colleagues in a collaborative and respectful learning environment. Candidates must attend any essential training opportunities offered by the program and have strong organizational and time management skills. Candidates must possess an appreciation and commitment to teach in Christian higher education through the integration of biblical faith and learning. Candidates must demonstrate a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and live lifestyles consistent with the University’s biblical standards of morality, temperance, stewardship, as well as membership and active participation in the individual’s local Christian church.

- Prepares the clinical environment to ensure both students and clients are ready for sessions.
- Teaches and models clinical communication, professionalism, and collaboration.
- Interacts frequently with students to provide direction, guidance, and feedback.
- Assists with administration, scoring, and written reporting of assessments.
- Assists with implementation of treatment sessions.
- Assesses and provides feedback to students regarding proper protocols for clinical documentation.
- Monitors student performance and progress with clinical skills development; provides ongoing feedback; and facilitates student participation in learning activities.
- Assesses student performance on assessment, intervention, interaction and personal qualities.
- Reports student grades at end of term to the MS-SLP program.
- Assists Clinic Director in organizing, maintaining, and ordering essential clinic materials and equipment.
- Communicates with MS-SLP faculty to ensure consistent content delivery, address student concerns, and recommend changes for upcoming semesters.
- May lead and/or debrief student participation in clinical simulation activities
