Responsibilities
- Verify patient insurance coverage by contacting insurance providers
- Obtain insurance coverage for procedures, tests, and treatments in accordance with healthcare policies
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) regulations to protect patient confidentiality
- Collaborate with clinical staff to confirm coverage details and clarify any discrepancies or issues
- Communicate effectively with patients, providers, and insurance companies to resolve coverage or billing concerns promptly
Skills
- Strong knowledge of health insurance policies, managed care processes, and medical billing procedures
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems and Microsoft Office applications
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies to ensure data security
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally across diverse audiences
- Ability to navigate insurance verification processes efficiently while maintaining attention to detail
- Prior experience in a medical office setting or healthcare environment is highly preferred
