JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary/ Objective

East Side House Settlement is a community resource in the South Bronx. The Community School Campus Director will oversee Attendance Improvement for the Community School Program and create a high-performing community partnership where students and families feel supported, community members, feel connected, and emerge in successful outcomes. Coordinated resources and programs must address key priorities such as attendance, behavior, literacy, math, youth, and family engagement. Resources to be coordinated are dependent on present school needs; academic, socio-emotional, health and others. Programmatically, resources may be designed to include options before, during after-school, during the school year, and summer months

The role of the Community School Campus Director is complex. It requires a dynamic person who can effectively collaborate, negotiate, build relationships, strategically partner, mobilize, navigate, and interconnect multiple systems to succeed for kids and families. The CSCD will execute the coordination and alignment of resources within a Community School to achieve the educational goals of students and their families. The CSCD is expected to work in partnership with others under the vision and direction of the school principal.

The CSCD will carry out the Leadership Team's shared vision as well as the school's requirements. This includes, but is not limited to, applying ESH's competencies to planning and organizing learning opportunities, attendance interventions, and providing support for students/families within the school and community. Additionally, managing a data-driven incentive program, events to celebrate school accomplishments, and fostering an engaging and welcoming school culture for stakeholders.

Essential Functions

Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  1. Execute community needs assessments to determine valuable school resources and services and develop/implement data-driven interventions for key priority areas.
  • Develop, manage, and execute data-driven strategies to address needs
  • Lead systematic evaluation of program, activity, and event effectiveness
  • Utilize positive youth development resources to improve student attendance, behavior and/or academic performance.
  • Generate reports on outcomes of the Community School efforts for various stakeholders
  • Collect, review, and analyze student data to develop new strategies and plan for continuous improvement and interventions
  1. Project Management
  • Provide project support and management to all individuals secured to support East Side House and Community School efforts
  • Delegate and monitor effectiveness of tasks performed by workgroups and community school staff
  • Coordinate of Resources
  • Recruit, train, and coordinate all volunteers at the school site
  • Solicit, coordinate, and distribute basic needs or ensure this function is being performed in the context of Community School
  • Identify and build relationships with key service providers needed to be support students and families
  • Monitor all budgets associated with Community School support at the school level

 

  1. Leadership and Communication
  • Actively participate in core team meetings, share relevant data, highlight concerns, and develop solutions
  • Assist with the creation and establishment of an environment that responds to the needs of students and families while building a culture of high attendance and achievement
  • Coordinate services, programs, and resources surrounding social and emotional well-being and enrichment, for students with attendance and academic struggles
  • Provide social-emotional well-being and enrichment resources, referrals, and program opportunities
  • Develop new partnerships with organizations and programs to work with the school
  • Manage organization/program partnership relationship
  • Facilitate workshops for students and their families on various topics, including social services, family services, enrichment opportunities, etc.
  • Build relationships with students, existing Community Based Organization (CBO) staff, and school staff
  • Develop strong relationships with teachers, parents, and students, primarily through existing groups such as the school leadership team (SLT) and grade levels
  • Participate in organization comprehensive professional development, team meetings, and supervision
  • Connect students to a range of prevention, early intervention, and intensive service programs that address the physical, emotional, cognitive, and social development of each student
  • Engage families and caregivers in understanding and supporting the education of their youth
  • Engage and lead Crises intervention, small group counseling, and individual counseling
  1. Administration
  • Ensure accurate attendance tracking and reporting
  • Meet contractual requirements and organizational strategic goals
  • Coordinate and execute all significant events activities along with other ESH's Program Directors
  • Prepare a monthly calendar of events, programs, meetings, and activities
  • Create a budget plan that supports the program needs and ensure timely spending
  • Collaborate in agency/department-wide events and strategic planning efforts
  • Assist with data collection, research, and prepare relevant data on a bi-weekly basis
  • Interpret data to inform the decision-making process

Expected Work Schedule

This is a full-time position scheduled to work 35 hours per week. Generally, work hours are scheduled Monday-Friday, 8am-4pm, occasional Saturdays and Holidays are required. Workdays/hours are subject to change based on ESH's needs.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position will supervise assigned personnel, including front-line staff and/or support staff.

 

 

 

Work Environment

The position is in a school-based environment. The dress code is business casual. This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

Travel

Travel is primarily local during scheduled work hours.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here represent those that must be met by an employee to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. This is generally a sedentary role; however, some filing and site visits are required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary. Reasonable accommodations will be considered.
