Overview
East River Farms is looking for a dependable, highly organized, and detail-oriented Inventory Specialist to join our team full-time.
Some people can walk past a crooked picture frame every day and never notice it. Other people have to straighten it.
We’re looking for the second kind of person.
With hundreds of individual SKUs, inventory accuracy is critical to our daily operations and compliance. You’ll work with a high level of independence and directly with management to receive products, maintain accurate inventory, investigate discrepancies, and ensure our physical inventory matches our systems.
Details matter. Counts matter. Documentation matters. “Almost right” isn’t right.
Responsibilities
- Receive and verify product deliveries against invoices, manifests, and purchase orders
- Enter and maintain accurate inventory in METRC and applicable POS/inventory systems
- Verify quantities, weights, labels, testing information, and package documentation
- Perform routine cycle counts and full inventory audits
- Reconcile physical inventory with system inventory
- Investigate and help resolve discrepancies—not simply report them
- Track adjustments, transfers, returns, damaged products, and other inventory activity
- Monitor stock levels, slow-moving products, and expiration dates when applicable
- Maintain organized backstock, inventory areas, invoices, manifests, and required records
- Prepare and properly transfer products to the sales floor
- Communicate inventory and compliance concerns directly with management
- Follow East River Farms procedures and all applicable South Dakota medical cannabis requirements
- Assist with general store operations as needed
Who We're Looking For
You notice things other people miss. You like systems, numbers, categories, patterns, and organization. You can work independently without someone constantly looking over your shoulder, and you take ownership when something doesn’t add up.
You can repeat a process 100 times without deciding step 87 suddenly doesn’t matter.
Preferred qualifications include:
- Inventory, receiving, warehouse, retail, or related experience
- Cannabis industry and METRC experience preferred, but not required
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Comfortable with computers, spreadsheets, inventory systems, and basic math
- Ability to investigate discrepancies and follow problems through to resolution
- Dependable, accountable, and comfortable working independently
- Strong communication and time-management skills
- Ability to maintain confidential business information
- Must meet requirements to work in a licensed South Dakota medical cannabis establishment
- South Dakota Medical Cannabis Card
We can teach our systems. It’s much harder to teach someone to care whether the numbers are actually right.
