Multilingual Learner (MLL) Family Liaison
Job Description
The East Providence School District is seeking a full-time MLL Family Liaison to serve as a bridge between MLL and newcomer families, schools, and community partners. This role ensures families can access educational services, understand district systems, and feel supported, informed, and connected, while managing student data to support MLL program operations and ensure compliance. The ideal candidate is culturally responsive, community-oriented, and committed to advocacy, equity, and inclusion for multilingual learners. The candidate must have flexibility to work some evenings for family/community events.
*This is a full time position
Salary Range: $67,000-70,000
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Social Work, Human Services, or a related field OR an equivalent combination of education and experience will be accepted
Job responsibilities:
Serve as a primary point of contact for MLL families, responding to questions about school programs, activities, events, and other district services.
Provide individualized guidance, referrals, and follow-ups, connecting families with wraparound services, community organizations, and other supports.
Support MLL families with registration and enrollment, navigating district programs and operations, and understanding their rights and responsibilities under federal and state laws.
Lead workshops and presentations to educate MLL families on school programs, MLL services, new arrival supports, and ways to engage in their students’ education.
Build and sustain partnerships with community organizations, service agencies, and advocacy groups to strengthen supports for multilingual learners and their families.
Assist with identification and placement of multilingual learners by reviewing home language surveys, administering assessments, collecting records, and conducting family interviews.
Maintain accurate MLL student records across data systems to support program operations and assist with state and federal reporting
Other responsibilities as directed by the MLL Director.
Qualifications:
Bilingual in Spanish, Portuguese, or Cape Verdean Creole strongly preferred
Strong written and verbal English communication skills
Excellent interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills
Experience working with people from diverse backgrounds, including immigrant families
Experience developing and implementing programs or projects
Experience with networking and outreach
Experience leading or facilitating group presentations
Proficiency in Google Apps, including Gmail and Google Calendar
Ability to collect, organize, and maintain data and information for reporting purposes
Strong organizational and time management skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
