Overview
The Student Advocate plays a vital role in supporting and empowering students facing various challenges within the educational system. Duties
- Serve as a primary point of contact for students in need of assistance, providing guidance and support in navigating school policies and procedures.
- Conduct assessments to identify student needs and develop individualized support plans.
- Facilitate communication between students, families, educators, and external agencies to ensure comprehensive support.
- Provide crisis intervention services to students experiencing emotional or behavioral challenges.
- Advocate for student rights within the educational system, ensuring equitable access to resources and services.
- Collaborate with social workers, child protective services, and community organizations to address issues related to child welfare.
- Assist in conflict management by mediating disputes between students or between students and staff.
- Maintain accurate records of student interactions, interventions, and outcomes while ensuring confidentiality.
Experience
Candidates should possess a background in social work or related fields with experience in working with children. Preferred qualifications include:
- Knowledge of crisis management techniques and strategies.
- Familiarity with child protective services and family law.
